Love Affair for the Ages

Over the past few days we've all been bombarded with images of the Presidential Inauguration. We've seen clips of Beyonce lip syncing the national anthem (really, who cares?), Kelly Clarkson belting out My Country 'Tis Of Thee (which, I think, was worse than the lip syncing), many stories of the food that was served, what happened, who said what and a frame by frame timeline of the events that occurred.

Of all these pictures, stories and clips one image still has me captured and breathless.

This may be strange to admit but I'm in love with their love for each other. Seriously, he's the most powerful man in the country (regardless of your political views) but every time his wife is in the room with him, it's like he melts. Isn't that what we all want from our partners?

Britney Spears was married 55 hours, Kim Kardashian is still married and preggo with another man's baby and marriages only have a 50% chance of lasting. With all of that in mind, I feel like it's really refreshing to see two people with such high social status putting their relationship and spouse first. Watching the two of them together definitely makes me want to be a better wifey to B and to strive to have a better marriage.

Traveling Salesman

B is currently on his 23 hour flight back home. He's been touring Asia for the last week and is now making his way back to God's Country. While I love B more than Paula Deen loves lard and can't wait to see him, I can't help but love the fact that his job takes him away from home sometimes. I've thought of a few reasons. Humor me, would you?

5.) You get to travel to some pretty awesome places. Seriously, I got to see my very first west coast sunset last year due to his travels in Los Angeles.

4.) If you want to sit on the couch all night long in your Mu-Mu and chow down on Chinese all while watching Golden Girls, you go girl!

3.) Two words: NO LAUNDRY. Seriously, I do jack while B is gone. If something happens to me while he's gone, just set fire to my apartment. It will save my mother a lot of embarrassment.

2.) You can sit on the potty while watching t.v. because you can now leave the door open. I'm not even sure I should share that... don't judge, you do it too.

1.) You can make like a starfish in the bed and hog the whole stinkin' thing because no one is there to wake you up from your naked escapade with the entire cast of Magic Mike and tell you to roll over or to give up some of the sheet you're hoarding.

Miss you, B! I can't imagine giving up 1/8th of my bed to anyone else.

2013

2013 is upon us and I'm super excited about it. I know I'm a little late on this post seeing how we are half way through January but better late than never... right? I'm excited because a lot of fun and exciting things are in the works already. This year we hope to buy a house or maybe make a decision on housing options, travel a lot more and celebrate our 2nd anniversary. I know it doesn't sound like much but I finally don't have work and school goals in my future.

We celebrated B's birthday a few weeks ago. I took him to a really cool restaurant here in Atlanta and I would recommend it to any one. It was the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. The restaurant is set up like a World War 2 bunker complete with war news and updates over the speaker system in the bathroom. The best thing about the entire experience is that it sits about 100 yards from the runway of the DeKalb Airport so we were able to watch the planes take off and land. B loved it. Check it out sometime.

Then, B left for Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok.... what an interesting time that has been. He's 13 hours ahead of us so we get a little confused on what day he is on, what day I am on and when I work next. His confusions are making me question my own work schedule. Can't wait for him to come back.

We have a trip to D.C. planned next month and our 4th trip to Vegas planned in April. Seriously, so excited.

Oh, I forgot to say, the picture above is from our cruise last year in Costa Maya.

I hope everyone had a great New Year and is just as excited about 2013 as I am!
